Ⅰ Introduction:
1. Main chains contain no double bonds and belong to saturated molecular chains with good weather resistance.
2. Long, thin and soft molecular chain segments are constituted with main ingredients ethylene, propylene and a third monomer (vulcanized position).
3. Stable molecules
4. Non-polar hydrocarbon polymer molecules
5. With little interaction with other chemical molecules
6. Broader molecular weight distributions

II Features
1. Capable of accommodating a lot of filler and processing oils without altering the elastic properties
2. Low glass transition temperature(Tg)→ with low-temperature resistance
3. High strength of chemical bindings of carbon-carbon and carbon-hydrogen bonds that provide stabilities in the molecules
→ The higher ethylene contents, the more stable the molecules.
4. Non-polar molecules contain saturated main chain segments and provide non-interaction between molecules:
→ Cannot NBR mix easily with SBR ; → cannot use polar softening oils
→ Little interaction with carbon black ; → excellent polar solvent resistance
5. Non-crystalline polymer with good flexibility at low and high temperatures

Ⅳ. How to choose a proper Vistalon (EPDM)
1.Low hardness → High softener content(carbon black/oil)
*High molecular weight EPDM with low crystallinity: V3666
2. High hardness → Limited softener content(carbon black/oil)
*Low viscosity EPDM with crystallinity: V7800
3. High filler content mixing → Able to accommodate filler
*High molecular weight and high ethylene content: V3666, V5601, V7001
4. Foaming → High filler content, high crosslinking rate and low degree of collapse
*High molecular weight, high third monomer(ENB)content, low to medium ethylene content: V8600,
5.Extrusion products(pipes) → processibility, high crosslinking rate, low degree of collapse
*Specified molecular weight(bimodel), high third monomer(ENB)content: V7500, V8600、V8700
6. Molding, injecting products → Low viscosity under shearing
