TransAsia to Fly Across Major Asian Cities in Five Years

2011/10/06
Taipei, Oct. 6, 2011 (CENS)--TransAsia Airways, Taiwan’s first private civil airline established in 1951, has recently announced it will launch four new flight routes in November, including Taoyuan-Hsuzhou of China, Kaohsiung-Hanoi of Vietnam, Kaohsiung-Nanning of China, and Kaohsiung-Hefei of China. TransAsia chairman Lin Ming-sheng noted his company will fly all over Asia’s major cities in five years.

TransAsia said it has made the best arrangement on these new flight routes to help travelers enjoy smooth and convenient travels in Asia.

To facilitate the operations of its new flight routes, over the past two years TransAsia has procured 20 aircrafts. The company will receive two A330-300 and six A321 passenger aircrafts, ordered in 2010, beginning from the fourth quarter of 2012. In addition, it will receive six A321Neo aircrafts from the France-based Airbus by 2020.

Over the past two years, TransAsia has seen sounder financial situation than peers. The company scored NT$918 million in after-tax earnings, or NT$1.91 per share, on sales of NT$8.355 billion last year. It posted NT$4.07 billion in sales with per-share earnings reaching NT$0.72 in the first half of this year.

Thanks to the implementation of direct transportation across the Taiwan Straits, TransAsia believes it will have a promising future with ample room for development. On November 1, the company will launch initial public offering on the main board of the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
