Taipei, March 19, 2010 (CENS)-Goldman Sachs & Co. will stage a forum addressing high-tech developments in Taiwan and China for the first time in Taiwan on March 22, having invited 100 of its investment partners to attend.
High-tech executives from Taiwan and mainland China to attend the conference include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) Chairman Morris Chang, HTC Corp. Chairperson Cher Wang, Acer Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive J.T. Wang, MediaTek Inc. Chairman M.C. Tsai, AU Optronics Corp. Chairman K.Y. Lee, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc. (ASE) Chairman and Chief Executive Jason Chang, ZTE Corp. Chairman Hou Weigui, Innovation Works Founder Kai-Fu Lee, and Tianyu Communications Equipment Co. Chairperson Rong Xiuli.
Chairman P.K. Jiang of Straits Exchange Foundation, a semi-official organization set up by Taiwan government to handle business and technical matters with mainland China, is invited to make keynote speech at the forum.
Industry executives pointed out that the first-time forum suggests Goldman Sachs` increasing interest in the Taiwan stock market. The company`s strategist, Timothy Moe, once forecast that Taiwan`s stock index for 2010 would reach 10,900 points, suggesting huge foreign capital would flood into Taiwan`s stock market this year.
Goldman Sachs Taiwan has been on the island for 10 years. The company`s Hong Kong headquarters last year decided to increase investments in Taiwan`s capital market. Its investment partners to attend the Taiwan meeting include Capital, Fidelity, Schroders, JF, Wellington and Morgan Stanley, who among the 100 partners manage over US$100 billion in funds.
