Taipei, Dec. 31, 2009 (CENS)--Global shipments of large-sized (over-10-inch) thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels increased 3.4% month-on-month (MoM) and 74.2% year-on-year (YoY), reaching 49.53 million units, according to WitsView Technology Corp., a LCD market research firm.
The company said that demand from inventory refilling has ended and the following panel market would be decided by the consumer-electronic retail market.
In the past, Witsview pointed out, large-sized panel shipment began falling from November in the traditional off season. In November 2008, for example, shipments declined by 21.7% YoY.
The research firm attributed the November panel-sales increase to strong demand from the retail market in Europe and the U.S. as well as explosive sales volume in China.
After three months of shipment declines, information technology (IT) panel shipment in November saw a 7.1% MoM increase (55.3% YoY) due to downstream inventory level has backed to a healthy level and most downstream system makers are holding an optimistic attitude toward 2010`s market.
About 18.17 million notebook PC panels were delivered in November, up 2.7% MoM and 73.7% YoY. Witsview attributed the clear YoY increase to the kick-off shipments of Windows7 models.
