Taipei, Dec. 16, 2009 (CENS)--Chunghwa Picture Tubes, Ltd. (CPT) chairman W.S. Lin recently forecast a rosy outlook for his company in 2010, despite record-low share prices.
Lin said his company will invest heavily in star industries as touch panel, electronic paper and three-dimensional products in the future.
At an interim stockholders meeting in Taipei, Lin said his company plans to set up a factory for TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) flat panels in China.
CPT used to ship only five million flat panels for notebook computers; but with Compal Electronics, one of Taiwan`s leading electronics manufacturers, having secured four seats in CPT`s board of directors, Lin believes his company can aim to raise the yearly shipment to between 10 million and 15 million.
S.C. Lin, newly designated president of CPT, said his company was the largest manufacturer of medium- and small-sized flat panels in November in terms of shipment due to successfully deploying in the global cellphone as well as China`s branded cellphone markets.
The president revealed some strategies to turn around CPT, including corporate restructuring, realigning product portfolio, cutting production costs, and broadly developing touch panels and three-dimensional products.
CPT was still in the red in the third quarter of this year due to insufficient supply of glass for making flat panels.
