Taipei, Nov. 27, 2009 (CENS)--Believing it can duplicate the success of bringing overseas Taiwanese firms to the island to go public, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) will in early Dec. go to Japan to try to attract firms to list in Taiwan by cooperating with Nomura Securities, Japan`s largest securities firm.
The TWSE noted it is targeting 24 Japanese firms qualified to launch initial public offerings in Taiwan, with such firms being closely tied to industries in Taiwan in having downstream customers on the island.
Since early February, the TWSE has worked with Nomura to screen prospective Japanese firms for launching IPOs in Taiwan. In addition, the TWSE will also persuade Japan`s largest, public game console makers to issue Taiwan depository receipts for secondary listing.
To that end, the TWSE will form a delegation, headed by chairman Chi Schive, to hold a large presentation in Japan.
