Kinpo Group to Establish TD-SCDMA Network in Neihu District of Taipei

2009/11/23
Taipei, Nov. 23, 2009 (CENS)--Taiwan`s Kinpo Group will join hands with China`s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in establishing a commercial TD-SCDMA network, China`s propriety 3G wireless communications standards, in Neihu district of Taipei City, marking a major stride for it to tap the huge potential of China`s emerging TD-SCDMA market, according to Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN), sister publication of Taiwan Economic News (TEN).

Rock Hsu, chairman of Kinpo Group, and Lou Qinjian, vice minister of industry and information, are expected to announce the cooperative project in Taipei tomorrow (Nov. 24). Lou arrived in Taiwan yesterday for attending the sixth "cross-Taiwan Strait information-industry technological standards" form, leading a Chinese delegation composed of executives of Chinese telecommunications heavyweights, such as China Mobile, China Telecom, Datang Telecom Technology, and Putian Telecom.

The TD-SCDMA commercial network in Neihu is designed mainly to facilitate effort by Compal Communications and Cal-Comp Electronics and Communications, Kinpo Group`s two mobile-phone manufacturing subsidiaries, to become part of the TD-SCDMA mobile-phone supply chain of China Mobile and solicit TD-SCDMA mobile-phone orders from Nokia and Motorola.

Kinpo will join a batch of Taiwanese firms which are gearing up to tap China`s TD-SCDMA mobile-phone market, including Meidtek, Dopod, Inventec Appliances, and BenQ.
